May 06, 2010
Part of the National Main Street project, Historic Willamette: A Main Street Community has selected Verticalwerks to develop a community portal to help promote the historic Willamette district in West Linn, Oregon. The project was unveiled April 22, 2010 during the first community-wide gathering of the newly formed Historic Willamette: A Main Street Community.
As announced on the OregonLive.com Website, Verticalwerks has been selected as the advertising and marketing agency of record for the project. The online portal site Verticalwerks is developing will include a free directory listing for each of the 160 businesses within Willamette’s Main Street. Verticalwerks’ co-founder, Kevin Schrandt, calls it a dynamic, interactive, information-rich site that will include local events, history, blogs and restaurant reviews. “It will be the definitive portal for information about Willamette,” he said.
To be launched in June, the site will also offer enhanced listings and sponsorship opportunities to area businesses for a fee. Corporate sponsorships will be available to other businesses throughout West Linn.
Promotions chair Brian Johnson, co-owner of BJ Willy’s, is stepping forward with a distinctive logo and free Web resources that use social media. “We’re putting Willamette on the map with a strong brand identity and a concept for a website that functions like a centralized co-op. Google ‘Willamette’ and lots of options will come up. We’ll draw from all over metro Portland,” he said.
